Rafiq qualified from the Royal Dental Hospital London in 1984.  After a House Officer post in Oral Surgery entered General Dental Practice, working in London initially then joining Hampton House in 1988, becoming a partner in 2003.

He is a vastly experienced dentist, who has a very good rapport with his patients, looking after successive generations of patients, many of whom have been with him since he joined the practice.

Rafiq regularly attends postgraduate courses and has been a trainer and mentor to newly qualified dentists in the past.

Outside of dentistry he enjoys hiking, travel and spending time with his family.
